Neil Young Issues Statement Calling On Obama to Intervene in Standing Rock, Comments on Trump
Also Discusses the "Fictional History" of Thanksgiving
Neil Young has issued a lengthy statement to his Facebook page. In it he calls on President Obama to intervene in the Standing Rock situation and help the peaceful protestors in North Dakota against the oil pipeline. "We are calling upon you, President Barack Obama, to step in and end the violence against the peaceful water protectors at Standing Rock immediately," he writes. Earlier this month Young visited the Standing Rock reservation to stand with the protestors.
Young also comments on President-Elect Donald Trump, whom he calls a "surprise president" and says could help galvanize progressives. "Like water on the garden of activism, America's surprise president brings a bounty of opportunity. The great issues of our time are now brightly illuminated and people are becoming more aware of them than ever, from sea to shining sea, from Standing Rock to Wall Street."
Young begins the essay writing about Thanksgiving, saying: "But it is now widely understood this Thanksgiving story is a fictional history. It was invented to whitewash the vicious genocide wrought upon the native inhabitants of this magnificent continent. Not only did the Europeans try to eradicate native populations, but they made every effort to eviscerate their culture, their language and eliminate them from these coveted lands."

I am truly impressed by his actions and I am eagerly waiting to see the reaction from the president. From the videos, it is clear that these people are protesting peacefully and the authorities are unleashing violence against them to make them stop.

In all honesty, grunge music had been accessible well before the finish of the twentieth century. Most people esteem bunches like Nirvana and Pearl Jam, clad in wool and shouting about the wrongs of private enterprise, to be grunge. Continually shying far from the spotlight and the corporate backers, grunge appeared to be the ideal solution for the previous hair band years.
