Godfather of grunge/folk-rock legend Neil Young will play his first set of solo gigs in several years on the Twisted Road tour. The trek starts on May 18 and continues through June 8.

If that wasn't rare enough for Young addicts, he will also perform at intimate, classic theaters, and his acoustic setlists won't just be a run of classic cuts. He's also going to unveil brand new, as-yet-unrecorded tracks. British folk icon Bert Jansch will open all the shows. Complete information about the Twisted Road tour's Southern dates is available at Concert Wire. Tickets go on sale this Saturday, March 27, at 10 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster.

Also, Jonathan Demme's concert film Neil Young Trunk Show will be released on Blu-Ray and DVD via Reprise later this year. The film is the second by the director of a planned trilogy about the august rocker. Demme also directed the 2006 Young documentary Heart of Gold. Theatrical screenings are being held across the U.S. this week. Watch the trailer here.
