Preoccupations
In September 2015 Viet Cong announced that they would be changing their name after facing much controversy because of its association with the original Viet Cong from the Vietnam War and in April 2016 the band announced that their new name would be Preoccupations. Now the band’s first album under their new name has been announced and fittingly it’s a self-titled affair. Preoccupations is due out September 16 via Jagjaguwar. The band has shared the video for its first single, “Anxiety.” The moody black & white clip is below (be warned it’s ever so slightly NSFW due to some artful nudity). Also below are the album’s tracklist, the band’s upcoming tour dates, and the album’s cover art.
David Yoonha Park directed the video, which was shot in Ymir, British Columbia. A press release says the video “is based around a series of surreal vignettes depicting various childhood fears and phobias.”
