The Flaming Lips Release ‘Blobs’ of New Music
Free Stream Available on Band's Youtube Account
Feb 14, 2011 The Flaming Lips
Flaming Lips fans, rejoice—the fearless experimental rock artists have released today a batch of new (and free!) music, and they have truly outdone themselves. The digital-only single “Two Blobs F**king” breaks down into 12 separate tracks that, when combined with their melodic counterparts, form one complete song. Mind-blowing, right? The Flaming Lips had a feeling that would be the case, so they even made a two-minute instructional video on how to enjoy this unconventional musical experience. (Note: Their cheatsheet suggests you listen to the tracks on your iPhone—super lo-fi is key.)
The 12 individual tracks, which are accompanied with seizure-inducing visuals, are available for streaming on The Flaming Lips’ Youtube site.

I went and it was MAYBE half as good as last year. Actually it was exaclty the same minus free laser proitens ( I am a big fan of free laser proitens at concerts)and WIMGO was the sponsor and gave out a bunch of free WIMGO shit. I found this last item appalling. The only thing that could have been worse was if they had been sponsered by the George W. Bush Presidential Library Foundation. The set list was pretty standard but I did like that they included a couple of older songs. The purple rain cover was tortured but since I really like old Prince stuff I still enjoyed it.Maybe I have been to many of their shows or maybe the current show is getting stale I can’t tell. If it is the latter I trust Wayne et all recognize this and are back to the drawing board to come up some more interesting elements for the show. This faith is why I still belong to the Church of Wayne.Even though I had my comlaints, at the end of the night I still left with a smile on my face so all in all a good time just not up to the lofty Lip standard..
