The Shins’ James Mercer and Danger Mouse Collaborate for Broken Bells
Debut Due on Columbia Early Next Year
Sep 29, 2009 Danger Mouse
According to Pitchfork, The Shins’ James Mercer has teamed up with master boardsman/Gnarls Barkley collaborator Brian Burton (aka Danger Mouse) to form a new band. The duo’s name isn’t for sure right now but they’re currently sticking with Broken Bells until something better comes along. The debut from Broken Bells (or ‘insert rad supergroup here’) tentatively drops early 2010, via Columbia.
The twosome want to stipulate that Broken Bells is not just another “produced by Danger Mouse” vehicle. Mercer-Mouse are supposedly planning for more releases besides the one already slated. The duo also teamed up on the Danger Mouse/Sparklehorse release, Dark Night of the Soul. If that album’s pretty solid “Insane Lullaby” is any indicator of the caliber of Broken Bells then we may have a true contender on our hands. You can get more information/update e-mails from the band at their site below.
