Toro Y Moi (aka Chaz Bundick) has announced a new live album and concert film. The album, Live From Trona, is due out digitally on August 5 and physically on limited edition 2-LP pink vinyl on November 4. A corresponding film directed by Harry Israelson will be available via Vimeo. It is Vimeo’s first ever concert film and it will also screen at New York’s House of Vans on August 2nd and the Theatre at Ace Hotel Downtown Los Angeles on August 4th. It was all filmed in the Mojave Desert in California, beneath the Trona Pinnacles, with no audience. Below are the tracklist, cover art, and the film’s trailer.
According to a press release, Israelson “broke down the fourth wall, revealing the filmmaking process by making equipment, lights and crew visible at all times.” The film features “hand-drawn animations and behind-the-scenes VHS footage.”
