Drummer and songwriter Stella Mozgawa of Warpaint – who also played on the latest records by Cate Le Bon, Kurt Vile, Jagwar Ma, and Regina Spektor – will be composing the score for the upcoming independent comedy film, Clara’s Ghost.

““I’m truly excited to be scoring this film,” Mozgawa said when asked about her involvement in the project. “I like to be spooked, but I also like to giggle. Clara’s Ghost is my kind of film, a perfect brew.”

This will be Mozgawa’s first feature-length score.

Clara’s Ghost is directed by Bridley Elliott and stars her real-life family, including father Chris and sister Abby Elliott, both alums of Saturday Night Live. The movie has just launched a Kickstarter campaign, and among the many (quite humorous) rewards is a package that includes several of Mozgawa’s albums. (Full disclosure: A member of our film staff, Sarah Winshall, is producing the film. Elliott and Winshall previously made the short film Affections together, which premiered at last year’s Sundance Film Festival.)

You can check out a funny video about the project at the film’s crowdfunding page, as well as read a more detailed description of what’s involved in making the feature.

Mozgawa’s latest album with Warpaint, Heads Up, is out now on Rough Trade Records.
