Scotland’s C Duncan (aka Chris Duncan) released his acclaimed debut album, Architect, last year via FatCat. It was nominated for prestigious Mercury Prize and was a gorgeous collection with shades of Fleet Foxes and Grizzly Bear in its multi-layered harmonies. Back in October he released his Twilight Zone-inspired sophomore album, The Midnight Sun, also via FatCat. Now he has shared a video for that album’s “Other Side.” Helen Plumb directed the clip, which features artist Rondi Park as she makes a costume of sorts. Watch it below, followed by Duncan’s upcoming U.K. tour dates, including some opening for Elbow.

Plumb had this to say about the song in a press release: “‘Other Side’ is about taking yourself elsewhere to escape your troubles. I wanted the video to reflect that in a metaphorical rather than physical sense. Rondi Park, a Brighton based artist, often uses costume to embody an idea. I wanted her character in the video to experience escapism from the mundane reality she is familiar with by transforming herself into weird and wonderful entities.”

Duncan had this to say about the song: “Perhaps the most poppy track on the album, this song is lyrically reminiscent of the first album. It is about leaving troubles and woes behind and escaping to somewhere far away. By this point I had toured many different countries and wanted to experience life outside of Glasgow.”
