Watch: Jenny Lewis on Vanessa Bayer’s “Sound Advice” Web Series
"Now I'm sad enough to write one of your albums."
Saturday Night Live's Vanessa Bayer also stars in the Above Average web series Sound Advice, in which she plays Janessa Slater, a terrible publicist/media coach who gives bad advice to various musicians who play themselves. She's already had the likes of St. Vincent, HAIM, and Sleater-Kinney on the show. This time it's Jenny Lewis who's in on the joke.
Watch below as Slater confuses Lewis' acting and music careers, thinking that the 1989 film she starred in as a child, Troop Beverly Hills, was the name of her previous band, and gives her grief for taking six years between solo albums. Slater chalks up the gap between Acid Tongue and The Voyager to vintage dress shopping, Lewis jokes it was weed. (Read our recent interview with Lewis to find out why it really took so long.)
