Watch: Laura Marling - “Gurdjieff’s Daughter” Video
New Album Short Movie Out Now
Apr 01, 2015
Laura Marling
Heralded British singer/songwriter Laura Marling has released the music video for “Gurdjieff’s Daughter,” the latest single off of her widely acclaimed new album Short Movie.
The dizzying video was filmed where Marling used to live in East Los Angeles and features appearances by her friends Rostam Batmanglij from Vampire Weekend, Jonathan Wilson, singer/songwriter Marika Hackman, actress Rhian Rees, and writer Hanne Steen. The song has a very relaxed, California alt-rock feel to it and reminds me a lot of the classic rock hit “Sultans of Swing” by Dire Straits.
