S.C.U.M—named for the 1968 feminist manifesto Society For Cutting Up Men—will see their debut full-length released this September via Mute. In the meanwhile, they’ve released a video for album cut “Amber Hands.”
The clip is immediately enticing; there are cascading colors and brief visions of a couple caressing. Right as you think you’re starting to grasp an image, it’s whisked away in a different hue. The crooning vocals are of a darker tone, an intriguing contrast to the mystical coloring. You feel like you’re drowning in an ethereal rainbow in confusion—but happy to be there.
