Watch the First Trailer for Unauthorized Morrissey Biopic “England is Mine”

England is Mine is a new unauthorized biopic about a teenaged Morrissey before he formed the iconic Manchester band The Smiths in 1982. It mainly takes place in the 1970s and leads up to Stephen Morrissey meeting future Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr. Now the first trailer for the film has been shared. It shows a young Morrissey as something of an intellectual but awkward outcast, as he first tries his hand at music. Mark Gill directs and Jack Lowden stars as Morrissey. The film premieres at the Edinburgh Film Festival on Sunday and hits U.K. cinemas on August 4, there’s no word on a U.S. release date yet.
