Walking Sleep

“Final Chapter” MP3

Mar 29, 2010

Los Angeles’ Walking Sleep (formerly known as The Flying Tourbillon Orchestra) formed in 2007. The indie-pop sextet quickly released their first EP, Escapements, the following year. In 2009, Sara Radle (former vocalist of the power-pop outfit The Rentals) joined the band to harmonize with frontman Hunter Curra.

The group will release its debut LP, Measures, on May 25. The sleek pop release was recorded at Aaron Espinoza’s (Earlimart, Admiral Radley) Ship Studio in Eagle Rock, Calif. Above you can listen to the album’s bouncy debut single, “Final Chapter.” It’s perfect music for springtime. The band will have a month-long residency at L.A.‘s The Echo in April.

Titus Andronicus: “A More Perfect Union” Video

Director Claire Carré‘s new video for Titus Andronicus’ “A More Perfect Union” plops the New Jersey band in front of a snowy hill for a fist-pumpin’ performance. They also partake in a game of Risk, yelp into tape recorders, and clamber up trees. Curiously, the short vid only contains the first part of the epic opener to The Monitor. Watch “A More Perfect Union” to the left, via TA’s MySpace. This excellent band is on the road now.

It drops tomorrow in the U.S. It’s his soundtrack for the hit German TV film 24Hr Berlin. A press release calls it, “the longest documentary film in history which featured 80 camera teams following the lives of Berliners over a 24 hour period.”

To celebrate the release date, we’re giving away an exclusive download of “Permanent Touch.” Longtime fans will immediately recognize Fehlmann’s touch on the piece. One Thirty BPM posted a stream of “Drunk Girls.” It’s reportedly the debut single off LCD’s still-untitled third album, due May 18 in the U.S. on DFA/Virgin. In a recent interview with Pitchfork, frontman James Murphy said the party punk anthem is “about drunk people and fun things and the fact that all of the boys of the L.A. mansion we recorded at were called ‘the girls’ by our chef. We were the ladies of the mansion.” Sounds about right…

Funniest Lyric: “Drunk girls wait an hour to pee!” You can stream “Drunk Girls” above and hear a snippet of another new song, “Pow Pow,” at Juno. (Via P4k.)
