Neon Indian‘s Psychic Chasms will get a remix-packed bonus disc this fall. Its single, “Deadbeat Summer,” drops in the U.K. on September 27, and features re-rubs from Le Tigre and Toro Y Moi. This time-signature-shifting cover of “Terminally Chill” from Luke Temple’s indie-pop band Here We Go Magic won’t be on the single, but it’s awesome. See tour dates here. (Via P4k.)

Today, The Vaselines offered the title track off their upcoming second album, Sex with an X. The twee-pop LP comes out September 14. Also check out its accompanying clip, where the veteran duo describe their inspiration for the tune. Click below to watch.

The “Sex With an X” single will be released on August 24. Sub Pop is offering a bonus 7-inch, featuring “White Chapel” and “Picked a Cherry,” if you are among the first 200 fans to pre-order the full-length. This fall they’ll travel to North America and the U.K.

Matthew Dear

“Little People (Black City)” MP3

Aug 03, 2010

DJ/tech-house artist Matthew Dear‘s fourth LP, Black City, is out now digitally on Ghostly International. It hits record store shelves August 17 in North America. Download, “Little People (Black City),” another epic dancefloor cut (nine minutes-and-change). It’s actually the longest track from the very good full-length. See upcoming tour dates at Ghostly. Hooray For Earth

“Comfortable, Comparable (Chairlift Remix)” MP3

Aug 03, 2010

Hooray For Earth just announced support gigs with Admiral Radley (ex-Grandaddy, Earlimart). After that trek, the electro-pop group will hit the West Coast with Jukebox the Ghost. HFE released their Momo EP earlier this summer, via Dovecote.

Watch their sci-fi-y “Get Home” vid below and download Momo remixes from Twin Shadow, On No Ono and Chairlift. The latter is available above. The NYC group take the spaciness of “Comfortable, Comparable” and chop and speed up Noel Heroux’s hazy vox. Also, make sure to read our feature on HFE in the Wasted on the Youth Issue.

Arcade Fire

“Oh It’s Such a Shame” (Jay Reatard cover) MP3

Aug 03, 2010

Watch on YouTube

Arcade Fire covered the late Jay Reatard‘s punk tune “Oh It’s Such a Shame” last night at a sold-out gig at Philadelphia’s Mann Center. They obviously blew it up into a mega-anthem, as they’re wont to do.

Hopefully they’ll repeat the musical tribute during their Madison Square Garden webcast this Thursday. Cult filmmaker Terry Gilliam (12 Monkeys, Brazil) is directing the concert, which airs on YouTube/Vevo at 10 p.m. EDT. Watch this OK fan-made YouTube clip of the tune, above. The Suburbs is out now. See upcoming gigs here. (Via Consequence of Sound.)

Contest: Win PVT’s ‘Church With No Magic’

Australian post-industrial/electronic trio PVT (formerly Pivot) will release sophomore LP, Church With No Magic, on August 10 via Warp. Recently, we let you download their bass-heavy album track, “The Quick Mile.”

Now, we’re giving away their full-length to one lucky reader. All you’ve got to do is send your (1) name and (2) address to [email protected]. Put “PVT Contest” in the subject line. We‘ll randomly select the winner next Tuesday (August 10). Church With No Magic can be pre-ordered here.

Wild Beasts

“Through the Iron Gate” (B-side) MP3

Aug 03, 2010

Wild Beasts are fresh off their Mercury Prize nomination for Two Dancers, so they’re celebrating with more touring, and a new EP for single “We Still Got The Taste Dancin’ On Our Tongues.” The release also includes an acoustic take of Limbo, Panto‘s “The Devil’s Crayon,” Jon Hopkins re-rubbing “Two Dancers,” and this menacing B-side, called “Through the Iron Gate.” Hope you enjoy.

The “We Still Got The Taste Dancin’ On Our Tongues” 10-inch is out now. You can download it free of charge this week from Domino or purchase via the label’s Mart.
