Dum Dum Girls frontwoman/main creative force Dee Dee Penny (sometimes just known as Dee Dee) recently announced a new solo project called Kristin Kontrol. Dee Dee’s real name is Kristin Welchez, hence the name of her new project. Now Kristin Kontrol has announced a debut album, X-Communicate, and shared its title track, which you can listen to below. The album is due out May 27 via Sub Pop (also Dum Dum Girls’ label).

American Laundromat Records have announced Say Yes! A Tribute to Elliott Smith, which is due out October 15. The Elliott Smith tribute album will feature newly recorded covers of Smith’s songs by Julien Baker, Amanda Palmer, Jesu/Sun Kil Moon, Yuck, Waxahatchee, Lou Barlow, J Mascis, Adam Franklin of Swervedriver, Tanya Donelly, and others.

London-based trio HÆLOS are releasing their debut full-length, Full Circle, on March 18 via Matador. Now the band has shared a video for “Separate Lives.” The band made the video themselves, which was shot on their first tour of the U.S. West Coast. Watch it below. The band also have a bunch of U.S. tour dates in the works, including 11 SXSW appearances (starting at one of Under the Radar‘s events) and a stop at Coachella.

Black Mountain
Black Mountain are releasing their fourth album, the fittingly titled IV, on April 1 via Jajaguwar. The band had previously shared a video for “Mothers of the Sun,” the album’s eight-and-a-half-minute opening track. Now the band has shared an animated video for “Florian Saucer Attack.” Chad VanGaalen animated the bizarre clip, which debuted on Adult Swim’s website last night and will be airing on the channel later this month. It features an alien and a strange planet.
