Wye Oak
Wye Oak’s Jenn Wasner has been out on tour with Sylvan Esso under her Flock of Dimes guise. They both stopped by the A.V. Club offices to take part on their A.V. Undercover video series where bands pick a song to cover from a predetermined list (it’s in its sixth season). Wasner picked Crowded House’s 1986 classic “Don’t Dream It’s Over” and Sylvan Esso backed her. Sylvan Esso chose Gillian Welch’s 2001 song “Everything is Free” and were aided by Wasner.

Jaakko Eino Kalevi’s self-titled new album came out this week on Domino imprint Weird World. Today the Finnish musician has shared the video for “Double Talk.” In the sparse clip Kalevi is clad in white in front of a white background holding a glass of milk.

Pavement are set to release The Secret History Vol. 1, a double LP B-sides and rarities collection due out August 11 on Matador. It’s the first installment in a planned series of five vinyl compilations of Pavement rarities. This one collects tracks from the Slanted and Enchanted era.

Savages
British four-piece Savages are currently finishing up their sophomore album, the follow-up to 2013’s acclaimed debut album, Silence Yourself (not counting 2014’s Words to the Blind, their collaborative album with Bo Ningen). The band are currently mixing the album in Copenhagen with Danish electronic producer Trentemøller. While we wait for that album to be finished and released the band have just announced some new West Coast tour dates.
