Father John Misty (aka Josh Tillman) is releasing a new album God’s Favorite Customer, on June 1 via Sub Pop worldwide (except for Europe, where it’s on Bella Union). Now he has announced some new fall American and European tour dates to go down this September and October. King Tuff will be the support on most of the September U.S. dates, whereas Bedouine will be the opener on many of his October European dates. Other Father John Misty shows this year will feature Bully, Jenny Lewis, TV on the Radio, Lucy Dacus, and others. Check out Father John Misty’s full touring schedule below, followed by the recent video for “Mr. Tillman.”
Tickets go on sale to the public next Friday, May 11, at 10 a.m. local time, with a fan presale (password: TILLMAN) beginning next Tuesday, May 8th at 10 a.m. local time.
Details of God’s Favorite Customer leaked a little early and then the next day Tillman officially announced the album and shared two more songs from it, “Just Dumb Enough to Try” and “Disappointing Diamonds Are the Rarest of Them All” (both made our Songs of the Week list).
The album’s first single, “Mr. Tillman” which was first shared back in February and was one of our Songs of the Week. When “Mr. Tillman” was initially shared it was via a basic official audio YouTube post that midway through turned into a goofy video of Tillman dancing in front of a green screen, with footage of hotel lobbies and bars behind him. Then he released the raw green screen footage. Then there was a full-on video for “Mr. Tillman” that featured Tillman checking into a creepy hotel but then getting stuck in a time loop.
Tillman produced God’s Favorite Customer, which was recorded with Jonathan Rado, Dave Cerminara, and Trevor Spencer. It was written largely in New York between Summer 2016 and Winter 2017. The album will be available in various formats: CD, digital, cassette, standard black vinyl, and “the limited Loser edition on metallic purple vinyl.”
Father John Misty released his last album, Pure Comedy, in April 2017 via Sub Pop (it was Under the Radar‘s #1 Album of 2017 So Far in our midyear wrap up and #9 in our final Top 100 Albums of 2017 list).

It seems that he had some busy tour schedule. Looking at this schedule and the dates, it seems that internet providers for my address he has got shows all over the country and on most of the days too. I wonder how will he manage to reach these places.
