Jack White (of The White Stripes, The Raconteurs, and The Dead Weather) has shared a mainly instrumental new song, “Battle Cry.” The song soundtracks an ad for Warstic, which is a sporting goods company that White co-owns. The promotional short film is titled War Cry: The Battle of the Hawk and the Raven and co-stars Detroit Tigers second baseman (and Warstic co-owner) Ian Kinsler as “The Hitter,” “a professional ball player who battles to get his mind right in the locker room before a big game,” according to a press release. White plays “The Raven,” described in the press release as “a shadowy trickster spirit.” “Battle Cry” will be released as a 7-inch on Record Store Day. A portion of the proceeds from the song will be donated to the Well for Culture Program as part of the Native Wellness Institute, a Native American charity. Stream “Battle Cry” below, and also below is the Warstic ad.
