Sweden’s Lykke Li is releasing a new album, The Afterparty, on May 8 via Neon Gold/Futures✦. Now she has shared its latest single, “Sick of Love.” Listen below.

In the song, Li imagines “herself lingering at the party as the cleaners sweep up the dreg,” as a press release puts it.

Li further explains: “It’s this moment of complete humiliation, and you’re trying to be strong. I had a lot of fun writing these lyrics. I laughed a lot.”

Previously Li shared the album’s first single, “Lucky Again.”

The Afterparty follows her 2022 album EYEYE and her 2025 covers EP, titled simply Covers. Lykke Li made a splash with her 2008 debut album, Youth Novels, and The Afterparty is her sixth album.

“I was twirling around in love addiction for all those albums,” she says in a press release. “Now I’m going into my existential era.”

She adds: “I find that we’re in an era where everyone is talking about, ‘My higher self,’ Fuck that. This is an album dealing with your lower self: your need for revenge, your shame, despair, all of it.”

The album was written in Los Angeles and recorded in Stockholm. It features a 17-piece orchestra.
