Over the past several days Passion Pit frontman Michael Angelakos has been sharing a number of brief demo tracks under the project name Eastern Shift. Starting with a 90-second cut called “Somewhere,” which makes use of lyrics from Barry Manilow’s “Somewhere Down the Road,” Angelakos has additionally uploaded songs such as “Katie Croons (demo)” (sampling Kate Bush’s “This Woman’s Work”), “Down (On Me),” “Higher Than A Damn Eagle (Happy New Year),” “All Right Passion Pit Remix” (a reworking of One Republic’s “Love Runs Out”), an instrumental demo of the Chunk of Change EP track “Cuddle Fuddle,” another Eastern Shift demo snippet called “But Will He Loves Me Like Calvin Loves Alice?” and an eight-minute instrumental dating back to 2007 called “Batty Lashes.”
Following Passion Pit’s 2012 sophomore album Gossamer Angelakos is poised to finally release a follow-up this year. Teasing the release Angelakos recently posted a photo to Facebook prominently featuring a whiteboard with various blacked-out song titles. A track called “Five Foot Ten” however, is left revealed on the chart.
