Premiere: Jaguar Sun Shares New Single “My Friend”

New Album Daisy is Out March 27th on Born Losers Records

Mar 12, 2026

Canadian indie singer/songwriter Chris Milnielly debuted his folky dream pop project Jaguar Sun in 2020 with his LP, This Empty Town. Minielly returned in 2022 with his similarly light and homespun follow-up, All We’ve Ever Known, before following in quick succession with a pair of EPs, his 2024 effort, For You, and Blossom, last year’s collaborative EP with fellow singer/songwriter Jesse Maranger.

Later this month, Mineielly is set to return to the Jaguar Sun moniker for another new full-length record, Daisy, which he’s teased this year with the early singles “No Turning” and “It Takes Time.” Today, he’s sharing an early listen to another new single, “My Friend,” premiering with Under the Radar.

Where the record’s previous two singles recalled the blissed-out sun-dappled haze of bands like Hovvdy, “My Friend” dresses up Milnielly’s songwriting with a fresh dose of energy. He weaves in driving percussion and a fuzzy electric element alongside his feather-light vocal melodies, allowing a warm contrast to blossom as the song kicks into gear and hints of distortion jostle into the mix. Yet, the track also never breaks its sunny pop sheen and Milneielly sounds as carefree as ever, pulling off a careful balance of tones with charming ease. The accompanying video will similarly put a smile on your face as Milnielly lives out his John Wick fantasies, rescuing a kidnapped dog from some henchmen.

Jaguar Sun says of the track, “‘My Friend’ is about pushing through the ups and downs of life. It’s a difficult road, but if you put yourself out there and try, you can win in the end.”
