Chicago-based five-piece Twin Peaks released a new album, Lookout Low, back in September via Grand Jury. Now they have shared a brand new single, “Our World,” not featured on the album. Listen it below, followed by the band’s upcoming tour dates.
The band’s Cadien Lake James had this to say about the song in a press release: “One day last year amidst some moment of (the constant) political turmoil or another, I read a tweet Connor posted encouraging all that despite the current state of affairs, ‘it’s still our world.’ I wrote the lyrics for ‘Our World’ directly after. Despite not fitting into the sequence of Lookout Low, it’s one of our favorites we recorded and we’re happy to share it now.”
Previously Twin Peaks shared Lookout Low‘s first single, “Dance Through It,” via a video for the track (it was one of our Songs of the Week). Then they shared another song from the album, “Ferry Song,” which had a bit of a ‘60s vibe and was fittingly accompanied by a visual featuring vintage footage of cities and ferries. Then they shared another single from the album, “Oh Mama,” via a video for the track.
Lookout Low is the follow-up to 2016’s full-length Down In Heaven and 2017’s singles series and compilation Sweet ‘17 Singles. Ethan Johns (Paul McCartney, U2) produced the album, which was recorded at the Monnow Valley studio in Wales. The band consists of guitarists Cadien Lake James and Clay Frankel, bassist Jack Dolan, multi-instrumentalist Colin Croom, and drummer Connor Brodner. OHMME’s Macie Stewart and Sima Cunningham also contributed to seven tracks on the album.
A previous press release described the new album like this: “Where their last LP, 2016’s Down In Heaven, and 2017’s Sweet ‘17 Singles compilation were adventurous and compelling updates on their youthfully raucous formula, their fourth album, Lookout Low feels like a total revolution. Their most deliberate and seamless record yet, the album is a collaborative triumph, propelled forward by Twin Peak’s near-decade-long bond.”
