Julien Baker performed at the Newport Folk Festival last month and backstage she was filmed performing a cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “Badlands.” It was filmed by MyMusicRX, which is part of the Children’s Cancer Association. They go to festivals and record sessions with musicians performing songs that inspire them. “It’s a song that always makes me feel better because it’s unashamedly triumphant,” says Baker of “Badlands.” “It’s about not being ashamed to be glad you’re alive and proud to do your best.” Watch below, followed by Baker’s tour dates.=

Baker released her acclaimed debut album, Sprained Ankle, last fall via 6131 Records and performed at Under the Radar‘s official nighttime SXSW showcase back in March (she was one of the most buzzed about artists at this year’s SXSW).
