Jarvis Cocker Working on New Music
New Pulp Documentary Out in the UK Next Month
May 27, 2014 Jarvis Cocker
Finishing a lengthy reunion tour with Pulp at the end of 2012—the last show of which was captured for a new documentary—frontman Jarvis Cocker has revealed in a new interview that he has begun working on some new solo material. Taking a year off from his weekly Sunday Service show on BBC Radio 6 Music, Cocker explained to the The Guardian, “Whether it’s to impress girls, or whatever, music is the thing that has become my means of self-expression, so this year I’m taking a break from the radio show to find out if I’ve got any interesting songs left to write or whether I’ve written them all.”
Cocker’s last solo album was 2009’s Further Complications. The Pulp documentary, PULP: A Film About Life, Death & Supermarkets will arrive in British theaters on June 6.
