Premiere: Madsonik ft. Lola Marsh “Drift and Fall Again” (From ‘Criminal’)

Composer teams up with Israeli indie artists on title theme for new action thriller; soundtrack available April 15

April 15^th marks the digital release of Criminal – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack from Lakeshore Records, the same day the new film arrives in theaters nationwide. The soundtrack features the film’s score by Brian Tyler and Keith Power and a main theme by Madsonik featuring Lola Marsh.

Over the last two decades Brian Tyler has become one of the most successful film composers of all time, having scored huge blockbusters such as Avengers: Age of Ultron, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Iron Man 3, as well as entries in the Fast and Furious and The Expendables franchises. He also records under his electronic music alter ego, Madsonik—a moniker he used for Criminal’s title track, “Drift and Fall Again,” which features Israeli indie folkers Lola Marsh. “I wrote ‘Drift and Fall Again’ as a reflection from the perspective of reliving life events and relationships through memories,” says Tyler (Madsonik.) “Music that evokes memories has always been interesting to me and I wanted to capture what it is like to feel regret and hope at the same time in a song. We all drift in life, we all fall again and again. But that is what makes the journey meaningful at the end of the day. So I tried to get that across with this song.”

“The music has a melancholy falling away feel, like the title says,” he continues. “If I had to categorize the music it has the feel of post-rock meets electronic meets cinematic vibe. The vocals of Yael Cohen from Lola Marsh are haunting and resonate with a vulnerability that is striking. I use analog synths from the 70s and 80s which are combined with drum kit, drum machine, and reverberated guitars that wander into the background and back into the foreground. Music is such a hard thing to describe, but basically—if people connect to this song that would be incredible!”

Summit Entertainment will release Criminal in theaters on April 15, the same day the soundtrack will be available in digital form. (A CD release will arrive on May 20^th.) The film stars Kevin Costner as a convict implanted with the memories of a dead CIA agent and tasked with finishing his assignment. The all-star cast also includes Gary Oldman, Tommy Lee Jones, Alice Eve, Gal Godot, Michael Pitt, and Ryan Reynolds. Check out the movie’s trailer below!
