Sufjan Stevens Might be Working on a New Christmas Album

Official Details Scant, But Hints are Dropped

What more could we want for Christmas than a new Sufjan Stevens Christmas album? As Pitchfork points out, Stevens has hinted that there might be a new seasonal release coming from him, so our Christmas wish may be answered this year. In the last day Stevens changed the name of his Tumblr account to “CHRISTMAS IS COMING!” and then changed it again to “ADVENT OF THE APOCALYPSE.” He then posted two Christmas movie-themed gifs, one from Silent Night, Deadly Night and one from Black Christmas. Then Kitty Pryde posted to Facebook: “just finished my christmas song for sufjan stevens….................(:”

Stevens has released multiple Christmas albums over the last 11 years, many of which were collected on 2006’s Songs for Christmas box set. Who knows for sure what he’s up to now, but perhaps there’s a Stevens stocking stuffer in our future.
