Australian electronic music titans The Avalanches have shared a new song, “Every Single Weekend,” which features Jamie xx. A one-minute version of the track first appeared as an interlude on Jamie xx’s 2024 album In Waves, but this is the full song. Jonathan Zawada directed the song’s video. Watch it below.

In Waves also featured a longer collaboration with The Avalanches, “All You Children.”

The Avalanches collectively had this to say in a press release: “We’ve loved collaborating with Jamie xx over the years—his In Colour album reignited our passion for sampling, and this track is all about letting go, forgetting the 9-5 grind and enjoying every single weekend.”

In May, The Avalanches returned with a new song, “Together,” which featured Nikki Nair, Jessy Lanza, and Prentiss. It was shared via a video featuring an iPod and computer disc walking together as the sun sets and rises repeatedly.

It’s been five-and-a-half years since the December 2020 release of the band’s last album, We Will Always Love You, which was the relatively quick follow-up to 2016’s Wildflower. Wildflower was the band’s long awaited follow-up to Since I Left You, The Avalanches’ acclaimed 2000-released debut album.

The Avalanches’ current lineup is Robbie Chater, Tony Di Blasi, and Andy Szekeres. There’s no official word on a new album, but the band has launched a strange new website, www.takumiarchives.com.

It includes this message:

Our platform combines enterprise-grade security, scalable infrastructure, and intelligent indexing to deliver a secure, future-ready foundation for digital preservation.”
