The Cure Announce European Tour Dates, with The Twilight Sad as Support
October/November 2016 Shows Will Be First Major European Tour in Eight Years
Nov 23, 2015 The Cure
Goth legends The Cure announced last month that they would be embarking on a 25-date U.S. tour in 2016 and that Scotland’s The Twilight Sad would support all dates and then confirmed all the dates earlier this month. Now the band have announced an extensive European tour for next October and November. It will be the band’s first major European tour in eight years and The Twilight Sad will also support these dates. The full run of Cure 2016 shows is below.
Back when the U.S. dates were announced, a statement on the band’s website read: “‘THE CURE TOUR 2016’ will present Robert Smith (voice/guitar), Simon Gallup (bass), Jason Cooper (drums), Roger O’Donnell (keys), and Reeves Gabrels (guitar) as they explore 37 years of Cure songs, mixing hits, rarities, favourites and as yet unreleased tracks in a brand new stage production that promises to be the ‘must see’ show of the year!”
The Twilight Sad’s newest album, Òran Mór Session, came out last month via FatCat and consists of reworked versions of songs from their last album, Nobody Wants To Be Here and Nobody Wants To Leave, as well as its B-sides and a cover of Arthur Russell’s “I Couldn’t Say It To Your Face.” The Cure’s Robert Smith covered The Twilight Sad’s “There’s a Girl in the Corner” back in May and you can listen to that again below. (And last month we posted Smith’s new remix of Ride’s “Vapour Trail,” which you can check out here.)
