The Drums
The Drums have released a video for their maudlin girl-group homage “Down By the Water.” Dating to the band’s 2009 EP Summertime!, and again appearing on their self-titled LP released earlier this year, it evinces the band’s darker side, exquisitely rendered in this clip in stark black and white. Frontman Jonathan Pierce emotively lip-syncs the downcast lyrics, while the rest of the band, sans instruments, do some rather odd gesticulating and posing, but the overall effect is oddly striking. The Drums is out now digitally and due for release physically 9/14 via Downtown Records. The full video is below.
