Under the Radar Announces Three SXSW Events: Car Seat Headrest, Hinds, Eleanor Friedberger, and More

Everything Everything, Caveman, Still Corners, Julien Baker, Sunflower Bean, Petite Noir, Fear of Men, Yuck, Gwenno, Girls Names, Cullen Omori, TEEN, and Others to Play

Under the Radar magazine is excited to reveal the full lineups, poster, and set times for its three SXSW 2016 events: two day parties on Wednesday, March 16 and Thursday, March 17 and one official nighttime showcase on Wednesday, March 16. The lineups include Car Seat Headrest, Julien Baker, Hinds, Eleanor Friedberger, Everything Everything, Caveman, Still Corners, Yuck, Sunflower Bean, Petite Noir, Girls Names, Gwenno, MONEY, Cullen Omori, TEEN, Mass Gothic, Younghusband, and more.

Both day parties run from 12-6 PM on Wednesday and Thursday at the Flamingo Cantina at 6th and Red River (515 E. 6th Street, Austin, TX 78701) and are sponsored by Readly, Sapporo USA, Gretsch Guitars, Polyvinyl Records, Kanine Records, and Chromatic Publicity. The day parties are free and open to the public; head over to the Eventbrite page for the parties to RSVP.

The official nighttime showcase goes from 7:30 PM to 1:40 AM Wednesday night at Central Presbyterian Church (200 E. 8th Street, Austin, TX 78701, which is at the corner of 8th and Brazos). SXSW badges and wristbands get priority admission to this event. Walk-ups on the night hoping to buy single tickets to the event might be let in, capacity permitting. The event is all-ages. You cannot RSVP for this event.

Wednesday's day party lineup features Caveman, England's Yuck, Sunflower Bean, England's Fear of Men, Spain's Hinds, Australia's Hockey Dad, and England's HÆLOS.

Wednesday's official nighttime showcase lineup features Still Corners, Julien Baker, Eleanor Friedberger, Car Seat Headrest, TEEN, England's Younghusband, and Mass Gothic (former Hooray for Earth frontman Noel Heroux).

Thursday's day party lineup features England's Everything Everything, England's MONEY, South Africa's Petite Noir, Wales' Gwenno, Cullen Omori (the former frontman of Smith Westerns), Pillar Point, and Northern Ireland's Girls Names.

The day parties will feature free beer courtesy of Sapporo USA as well as complimentary snacks provided by Justin's (while supplies last). Readly will be onsite doing a drawing to give away $100 Amazon Gift Cards to those who sign up for a free 30-day trial, so get there early to enter to win. Free copies of Under the Radar's print magazine will also be given away.

This summer, as it has done every U.S. Presidential election year since 2004, Under the Radar will put out another Protest Issue, which will examine the intersection of music and politics and feature photo shoots with musicians holding protest signs of their own making (the autographed signs will then be auctioned for charity).

About Polyvinyl Records: Polyvinyl, the long running Champaign-Urbana, Illinois based record label, is one of the sponsors of the Thursday day party. Matt Lunsford and Darcie Knight Lunsford founded the label, starting it as a fanzine called Polyvinyl Press in 1994 and transforming into a record label by 1996. Their artist Pillar Point are playing the Thursday event and other artists on the label include of Montreal, Alvvays, Deerhoof, The Dodos, Japandroids, Wampire, and Xiu Xiu.

About Kanine Records: Kanine Records was founded in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, New York in 2002 by Lio and Kay Kanine while hanging out at their favorite bar, Daddy's Bar.
