Nightlands is the Philadelphia-based project of Dave Hartley, who is the longtime bassist of The War on Drugs. A couple of weeks back the third Nightlands album, I Can Feel the Night Around Me, was released via Western Vinyl. Now he has shared a video for “You’re Silver.” Daniel Fox and Matthew Marchlewski directed the video. Check out the trippy clip below, followed by Nightlands’ upcoming tour dates.
Hartley described the video in a press release as such: “We like to imagine our favorite albums being created in a beautiful burst of inspiration. The reality is just work. You get your coffee, you go to the studio, and you chip away. For me, my inspiration was 3000 miles from my studio. The video captures the vibe of the record really well—conceived in the Big Sur sunshine, born in the cold of Philadelphia. Images of the California coast, specifically Big Sur and the Lost Coast psychedelically meld with the urban topography of Philly.”
I Can Feel the Night Around Me is the follow-up to 2013’s Oak Island. The Nightlands live band is Hartley on vocals and guitar, Anthony LaMarca (The War on Drugs, Dean & Britta) on drums, Eliza Hardy Jones (Strand of Oaks) on keys and vocals, Jesse Hale Moore on keys and vocals, and Scott Churchman (Chubby Checker) on bass.
