We’ve got the the neat performance clip all prepped for spicing up your Wednesday afternoon. Taken By Trees

CFCF

“Anna (CFCF Remix)” MP3

Jun 02, 2010

Sadly, many people slept on Taken By Trees’ second LP, East of Eden. The Victoria Bergsman (former Concretes vocalist) joint featured a cover of Animal Collective‘s “My Girls” (retitled “My Boys”) and the Swedish indie-pop songwriter also wrangled Panda Bear (AC’s Noah Lennox) into providing support vox on the original album cut, “Anna.”

The latter recently got a re-rub from rising Montréal electronic maven, CFCF. If you remember, Bergsman recorded EoE in Pakistan with regional Sufi musicians. The bare and almost ambient remix drops the regionalism, but is just as tasteful and pleasing to the ear. (Via MBV.)

Vampire Weekend: “Holiday” Video

Sometimes it’s best to just laugh along with your detractors. Indie-pop foursome Vampire Weekend know this to be true, and the video for “Holiday” is a perfect example. Anyone whose followed the ascendant band know of critics and bloggers calling VW the “Richie” Riches of the indie set. Well, this new vid one-ups the taunts by slapping some aristocratic powdered wigs (17th century-era Versailles) on the group as they cavort around summery beaches/pools with babes, hit up an In-N-Out drive thru, and eat decadent sweets. The frilly men even find time to kick some surfer ass too. Go on a “Holiday” above. See upcoming gigs here. (Via MTV.)

Arcade Fire‘s had lots of fun these past few weeks previewing some brand new material. First, there was a rumor of a 12-inch single entitled, “The Suburbs” b/w “Month of May,” and then they dangled a carrot over our heads with a pair of painfully truncated, interactive snippets via their site. And now, you can stream/download the genuine articles. They’re very summery and add a nice layer of grime to the band’s discography. (Downloads via Thirty BPM.)

In other AF news, the Guardian posted about a group of Canadian high schoolers putting on a musical inspired by the indie band’s sophomore LP, Neon Bible. They’ve dubbed the band-endorsed play “The Neon Bible Project,” and it debuts tonight at Ottawa’s Canterbury High School, the alma mater of Arcade Fire double bassist and accordionist Richard Reed Parry. The production will feature every track off Neon Bible, set against the backdrop of a dystopian future. The students will also perform the musical at Scotland’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August. God Help the Girl: “Baby You’re Blind” Video

The Matablog reports that Belle and Sebastian maven Stuart Murdoch’s A.V. project, God Help the Girl, released a brand new, previously unreleased single today. It’s called “Baby You’re Blind” and features Those Dancing Days’ Linnea Jönsson on lead vox.

The lovely track was recorded in Glasgow last year. You can watch the clip for the horn-laden song via this neat widget here.

On the flip of the “Baby You’re Blind” 7-inch is a new take of “A Down and Dusky Blonde,” a cut from God Help the Girl eponymouus LP. The lead singer on that tune is Dina Bankole. Stream it at their MySpace.

L.A.‘s bass-y beatsmith Flying Lotus, already slammed us with his excellent “space opera,” Cosmogramma, earlier this month. Well, there’s one more tune he wants to expand our minds with today. The unreleased cut (with accompanying found visuals) is titled “Heave (n)” and FlyLo released it via his Twitter account. He notes: “I forgot to give you this…” Glad he didn’t leave this one stuck in the seat cushions at home. See upcoming tour dates at his MySpace. (Via One Thirty BPM.)
