Early today, The Decemberists gave us a listen to “Make You Better,” the first track from their forthcoming album What a Terrible World, What a Beautiful World. Now there’s a tracklist to go with that. The release features, “12/17/12,” a song inspired by the terrible Newton school shootings.

“The first songs were highly personal, a change from the strong narrative thrust that has characterized much of The Decemberists’ work,” says frontman Colin Meloy via press release. “Having a family, having kids, having this career, getting older – all of these things have made me look more inward.”
