U.S. Girls (aka Meghan Remy) has announced a new album, In a Poem Unlimited, and shared a new song, “Velvet 4 Sale,” via its video. In a Poem Unlimited is due out February 16, 2018 via 4AD. The album also includes the recently shared single “Mad As Hell.” Watch videos for both songs below, followed by the album’s tracklist and cover art.
A press release says “Velvet 4 Sale” “concerns a female narrator imploring another to buy a gun for protection, impressing that the only way to change men is for women to use violence.” Remy elaborates in a press release: “Men are lucky women (and children) have yet to take up arms. And although I hope this never happens and I completely disagree that violence is ever effective, this very idea was ripe for a song.”
Remy co-directed the video with Alex Kingsmill and stars as a police officer who, as the press release puts it, “discovers that a fellow cop who has beaten his wife will be left off the hook as a ‘professional courtesy.’”
In a Poem Unlimited is U.S. Girls’ sixth album and the follow-up to 2015’s Half Free, also on 4AD. Read our 2015 interview with U.S. Girls.
