Hostages Taken by Terrorists at Eagles of Death Metal Show in Paris Tonight, Up to 100 Dead

Eagles of Death Metal were playing the Le Bataclan venue tonight in Paris when terrorists stormed it, shot into the crowd, and took hostages. According to The Washington Post the band was able to escape, but some of their crew are unaccounted for. This followed an earlier suicide bomb in a Paris soccer stadium. The police have stormed the venue and the siege is over, but CNN are reporting that as many as 100 attendees are dead.

They were the subject of the season finale of Armisen and Hader’s new faux documentary show on IFC, Documentary Now! But next Friday (November 20) they are also releasing an actual seven song Catalina Breeze EP via Drag City.

School of Seven Bells recently announced a new album, SVIIB, due for release February 12, 2016 via Vagrant. It is the band’s first album since the passing of founding member Benjamin Curtis, who passed in December 2013 after a battle with T-cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma. Now the band has shared the album’s first single, “Open Your Eyes,” which you can listen to below via Noisey (who premiered it).

Cassie Ramone (ex-Vivian Girls) Announces Christmas Album, Shares Cover of “Run Run Rudolph”

Former Vivian Girls singer/guitarist Cassie Ramone has announced a Christmas album. Christmas in Reno is due out December 11 via Burger Records. Below you can hear her cover of “Run Run Rudolph,” a song originally released as a single by Chuck Berry in 1958. Ramone’s take is of course much more lo-fi, in keeping with Vivian Girls’ sound.

David Bowie Shares Trailer for “Blackstar” Short Film

David Bowie is releasing a brand new 7-song LP entitled Blackstar (but styled as ★) on January 8, 2016 (which is Bowie’s birthday). The album’s title track will premiere next Thursday (November 19) via a short film/video directed by Johan Renck and now a 30-second trailer for the film has been released and can be watched below.
