M83’s Anthony Gonzalez contributed new music to the soundtrack of French film L’Autre Monde (Black Heaven), which was recently screened at the Cannes Film Festival. The soundtrack features two new M83 songs, “Black Hole” and “Marion’s Theme.”

At the 2010 Glastonbury music festival this past weekend, Doctor Who‘s Matt Smith (who plays the time and space traveling hero The Doctor) made a surprise appearance alongside electronic dance music duo Orbital to help them perform the Doctor Who theme tune. We have the video.

Jack White
The White Stripes/Dead Weather/Raconteurs frontman Jack White recorded a new single by British folk artist Laura Marling in his Nashville studio while she was on tour. There is no confirmed title or release date for the track yet, however it will be part of White’s Third Man Records’ “Blue Series” and be released on seven inch.

Universal Studios Home Entertainment will release the 25th Anniversary Back to the Future trilogy boxed set on DVD and Blu-ray Tuesday, October 26, 2010 and there will be footage of Eric Stoltz as Marty McFly. BTTF.net had an exclusive interview with Back to the Future writer/producer Bob Gale at the 2010 DeLorean Car Show where Gale stated the news about the set’s new behind the scenes documentaries.

Glastonbury Festival
Despite headliners U2 having to cancel their appearance, Glastonbury, one of the biggest and greatest music festivals, still seems to have been wholly successful this past weekend (even the English weather cooperated). There were many surprises at the 40th Glastonbury, including Thom Yorke and Johnny Greenwood performing “Karma Police”; Shakira covering The xx’s “Islands”; Stevie Wonder paying a tribute to Michael Jackson, and many more. Musician Andrew Bird and sculptor Ian Schneller have teamed up to develop Sonic Arboretum, as part of the Guggenheim Museum’s summer concert series Dark Sounds debuting in New York on Thursday August 5th. Andrew Bird and Ian Schneller’s Sonic Arboretum is the second part of the series, which is a one-night performance with Bird’s music.
