The Mynabirds, aka Nebraska singer/songwriter Laura Burhenn, has announced the release of her third studio album Lovers Know. Recorded over eight months across studios in L.A., Nashville, Joshua Tree, and New Zealand with producer Bradley Hanan Carter, the follow-up to 2012’s Generals is due out later this summer.
“It’s a break up record, for sure,” says Burhenn in a press release. “It was taking such a toll on me, I felt at times like it was going to be the last thing I’d ever write. But I was really inspired by something William Faulkner said: ‘You cannot swim for new horizons until you have courage to lose site of the shore.’ So every time I thought I might sink to the bottom, I just kept going. And I think the struggle helped me find some really gorgeous new places in the end.”
Previewing some of the new material, Burhenn has announced a series of performances at this year’s SXSW. Scroll down below to view the scheduled shows.
