The Charlatans tend to come back strongly in the face of tragedy. The death of original keyboard player, Rob Collins, brought the group’s immensely popular (in the U.K. anyway) Tellin’ Stories. The still-fresh death of drummer Jon Brookes has evoked, Modern Nature, 12th album with the strongest songwriting in recent memory for the group, whose first release was 25 years ago.

Du Blonde
Coming to the end of the “David Bowie Is…” exhibition, this U.K. singer/songwriter was reminded of reasons why she chose to pursue music: the creative freedom it allowed artists to explore, to change, and to push their own boundaries. Browsing Bowie’s many transformations, she felt regret at holding on to one sound and persona. Soon after, Beth Jeans Houghton, formerly of the Hooves of Destiny, became Du Blonde.
