The new season of Doctor Who is here, and with it the highly anticipated debut of Peter Capaldi’s Twelfth Doctor.

World War Two, which kept Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe) and her husband Farank (Tobias Menzies) apart for five years, has just ended. To get reacquainted with one another after such a prolonged separation, the Randalls take a second honeymoon from their English home to Scotland.

Minutes before it lands in New York, a plane carrying 210 passengers from Berlin ceases all communication. It maintains radio silence on the runway; every window shade save one is closed, and the plane is eerily dark. Game of Thrones closes out this season with a stellar episode, but like any good finale leaves some massive plots unresolved and teases us with whole new mysteries.
