Run It Again is fairly fantastic Replacements rock ‘n’ roll from the LA scene stalwarts Criminal Hygiene. This, their second full-length, is a classic-indie-rock referencing bar-room beauty. Songs such as lead single “Hardly News” and “Dangers of Convenience” are anthemic and irresistible, while the album’s lyrical themes swing from the death of Philip Seymour Hoffman on “Private Screening Heroin” (“Pale white New Yorker alone/For one last trip back home”) to the struggles of devotion on “Thankless” (“In these moments when I doubt you/It’s ‘cause I’m all about you”). Run It Again is a guitar and guts heavy diamond with the roughest of edges. (www.criminal-hygiene.com)
