Deadman: Dark Mansion of Forbidden Love
DC

Issue #60 - Father John Misty
A tight little tale of ghosts that’s less superheroics than horror mixed with plain ol’ heroics. A cursed house sets the stage for a confrontation that teams Deadman—basically just a ghost with a helpful mission—with a reluctant psychic named Berenice as they try to help a troubled spirit, and end up trapped in the house, in heaps of trouble themselves. Medium-paced but full of tension, this is one of the best versions of Deadman in years, though he plays second fiddle to Berenice and perhaps even to
Berenice’s new friend, Sam. The real culprit is perhaps tipped off a little too early in the tale, a little too heavy handed, and the action payoff is fine, not spectacular. It’s the relationships and pondering on the nature of ghosts and spirits by both ghosts and people that are the real appeal. (www.dccomics.com)
