We’ve heard that Peter Sagar is Mac DeMarco’s touring guitarist. We know he must be good then. But his lo-fi, boyish, oddly smooth R&B treatments under his rather unpresuming Homeshake moniker leave us in a muddled mess. Horns puff on “Call Me Up,” delicately draping his youthful falsetto. So much hope, so much promise. Self-assured felted guitar, velvety vocals, boiled hip-hop, and shades-down electronica are certainly Fresh Air, rooted in a DIY greenness and piecemealed found recordings. The dichotomy is refreshing and unassuming, like a Justin Timberlake for the indie girls and boys. (www.homeshake.bandcamp.com)
