I Hate My Teenage Daughter
(Fox, Wednesdays 9:30/8:30 Central)
This mid-season sitcom is executive produced by the same individuals who created Seinfeld and Friends, plus it stars Emmy Award winner Jaime Pressly (My Name Is Earl) and Tony Award winner Katie Finneran (Wonderfalls). Annie (Pressly) and Nikki (Finneran) are former high school outcasts, made over into Redbook cover moms. As such, they have overdone their parenting to ensure their stunning daughters don’t suffer the same fate. In the process they have created the ultimate mean girls who treat their mothers the same way they were treated in high school, possibly worse. Annie and Nikki are both divorced and their ex-husbands—one who is still in a band with members that aren’t old enough to drive and the other who is a golf pro who is too feeble to be effective—are unreliable. In reality, Annie and Nikki are each other’s other halves, trying to balance out their weaknesses.
Despite the unfortunate laugh track, Pressly and Finneran bring a new twist to motherhood with their funny take on the 21st century mom. In turn, their daughters, Sophie (Kristi Lauren) and Mackenzie (Aisha Dee), also bring a new twist to the 21st century teenaged daughter with their ruthless cruelty, delivered with a solid dose of condescension. All in all it’s fairly nicely played. (www.fox.com/i-hate-my-teenage-daughter)

The series follows two mothers who fear their daughters are turning into the kind of girls who tormented them in high school.
