Lollapalooza 2024 was one for the books. Between headliners like SZA and Blink-182 and record-breaking attendance for the queen herself, Chappell Roan, this year’s festival was one of the most exciting and diverse yet. It’s no surprise that Chappell Roan drew what was reportedly Lollapalooza’s biggest crowd of all time: the pop star has risen to meteoric status just in the last 6 months. Fans waited hours to dance along to “HOTTOGO”, despite the intense heat and humidity.

Following Chappell Roan’s performance, everyone simply pivoted to the other side of the field to watch Kesha, whose 2023 album Gag Order marked an era of freedom and empowerment for her. Playing her biggest hit, “Tik Tok”, she rightfully changed her opening lyrics from “Wake up in the morning feeling like P. Diddy” to “Wake up in the morning feel like FUCK DIDDY!” She sang these new lyrics several times to make sure the crowd knew the change and to throw their middle fingers in the air too. Her Lolla performance was the perfect bookend to Chappell’s set.

Newcomers to Lollapalooza this year included Teddy Swims and The Last Dinner Party, both of whom are huge in their own right. Teddy Swims, a Georgian native with a buttery-smooth soulful voice, drew in a big crowd and had them singing along during his entire set. The Last Dinner Party played on the other side of the park and had one of the most excited and energetic crowds outside of Chappell and Kesha. The British indie rockers are a five-piece female group that each have their own unique style and persona onstage; fans fervently called out to each member during different songs and musical solos, only to be thrilled when their favorite members smiled back.

On Sunday night, legendary pop punk trio Blink-182 closed the festival with fireworks, iconic hit songs, and tens of thousands of screaming fans singing along. Following a hiatus with guitarist Tom Delonge in the 2010s, the original band members reunited in 2023 and were in great form for their Lolla set. Front row fans had been waiting for hours to close out the festival with Blink-182, and the band did not disappoint. It was the perfect way to close out a weekend of dancing, raving, and singing along to headliners and openers alike.
