Celebrating 20 years in Chicago’s Grant Park, Lollapalooza 2025 reaffirmed that, despite international spinoffs in Paris, Berlin, and South America, the Second City remains the heart and headquarters of the global festival brand. This year’s lineup leaned hard into pop spectacle, with history-making sets from TWICE, the first all-female K-pop group to headline, and country’s official arrival via Luke Combs. Four days deep into the summer festival season, the stakes were high, but Lolla delivered a tightly-run, high-gloss production with a little something for everyone.

Standout moments came stacked across the schedule. Clairo took on a near-mythic presence, drifting across the main stage in a gauzy white gown like a ‘60s dream cult princess, commanding a crowd that hung on every whisper. T-Pain turned his set into a throwback SNES rave, Djo replicated The Bean in a surreal hometown homage, and Sierra Ferrell charmed her way into new fandoms with a performance that felt like a breakout in real time. After dark, aftershows from Magdalena Bay at the Vic and Remi Wolf at Salt Shed kept the energy pulsing well past curfew. From viral newcomers to festival vets, this was one of the most efficient, star-studded editions in recent memory.

Pop reigned supreme, but the weekend’s most electric moments came through unexpected guest appearances: Robyn showing up for Gracie Abrams’ “Dancing On My Own,” Weezer joining Olivia Rodrigo for a full-on pop-punk lovefest, and Earth, Wind & Fire giving Sabrina Carpenter’s headlining slot a hometown stamp of approval, and possibly its record-breaking attendance. Even smaller acts brought surprises, with tour announcements (Doechii), family cameos (Dominic Fike), and plenty of midsong surprises across the park.
