The minimal acoustic music of My Bubba, the Scandinavian duo of roommates-turned-bandmates My Larsdotter and Guðbjörg (Bubba) Tómasdóttir, takes an even sparser turn on Big Bad Good. My Bubba wrote and recorded these lilting songs on the spot at Figure 8 Recording in Brooklyn, with production by Shahzad Ismaily (Jolie Holland, Xiu Xiu). The album’s nude cover image aptly describes the songs inside—the hum on “Sister,” the strums on “Charm,” the breaths on “ET.” They’re all part of an intimate and mostly interesting package that showcases two artists casting off any expectations but their own (www.ohmybubba.com)
