Knox State University is a college just like any other—Greek life, a winning football team, and, oh yeah, deadly final projects. Originally published as a four issue series in 1999, the heavily satirical tale—not for the faint of heart— is collected here in one volume for the first time.

The pupils of Knox have been indoctrinated with the school’s motto, “Strength through study,” and it shows—through building (working) time machines, escalating Middle Eastern violence, and creating a cult from the ground up. Too much narrative time is lost exploring the antics of the facility—which in no way hold a candle to the main characters (Corruption in school government? Sing us a new song). However, the students’ blood-splattered adventures (and misadventures) in earning their sheepskins shockingly dovetail into an impressive larger statement about the American collegiate system, the high price of success, and what it takes to really get ahead.
