Jack White and Karen Elson to Throw Divorce Party

Former Couple to Remain "Trusted Friends"

Jun 10, 2011 Jack White

It has been quite the scandalous week in America. As Weinergate continues to break with more twists than a novel, we were sure a divorce was coming. That divorce, however, is not between the political couple wreaked by Twitter-sex gone awry, but musician/producer/Third Man Records helmer Jack White and his model/singer wife, Karen Elson.

White and Elson announced their split today via a sad yet heartfelt press release, stating: “We remain dear and trusted friends and co-parents to our wonderful children Scarlett and Henry Lee. We feel so fortunate for the time we have shared and the time we will continue to spend both separately and together watching our children grow.”

Well, it can’t be too sad—or maybe White-Elson just have great senses of humor—for the now-split couple added that in honor of the “time shared” they’re throwing a divorce party tonight. According to White and Elson, the party, which is being held in their homebase of Nashville, is a reaffirmation of their friendship and will celebrate “the past and future with close friends and family.” To make it official, White and Elson have released the gothic-inspired invitation (see below), but unfortunately, it’s not an open invite—no plus ones or dead beats allowed.

Divorce Parties are part of our culture now. While some people still think they’re in bad taste, many people like Jack White and Karen Elson embrace them as a valuable ritual where friends and family can help a divorcing person through a difficult life change. I’ve had a talk with family law attorney johnson county ks about this, and came to the conclusion that divorce parties are a mature and harmonious way of celebrating the end of a marriage and the beginning of a new stage in life. I wish Jack and Karen the best of luck in their future relations, and I think we could all take their example.

Although some people still think they’re over-rated, many embrace divorce parties as a valuable ritual where friends of lawyers in charlotte nc and family can help a divorcing person through a difficult life change. In fact it might be just what the doctor ordered, a way to mark the end of a difficult and emotional time and the beginning of the rest of your life. But be sure and ask good friends to chip in and help just as you probably did when you got hitched.

fter getting divorced in July 2014 I decided to throw a divorce party. I wanted to celebrate what had happened as, although it had been horrible, I wanted to use the experience to create an inner strength instead of spending the time crying my eyes out. A friend of mine from family law attorney orlando fl had recently suggested that we should have a hot tub party which I thought was a great idea and I decided to turn that into a divorce party. I invited 10 of my friends over, asking them to also bring a bottle. The weather was terrible but luckily we had a gazebo so we still had a good time: the girls all dressed up and I wore an ‘Aint no wifey’ t-shirt.
