Felix Da Housecat
He Was King

Electroclash god Felix Da Housecat has been chasing his “Silver Screen Shower Scene” hit song’s tail since the beginning of this decade, with mixed results. His latest artist album, He Was King, is yet another mixed bag of beats and pop. The album unwisely begins with “We All Wanna Be Prince,” a tribute to the Purple One that’s too on the nose and slack, with its Xeroxing of Prince’s ’80s production style. After an embarrassing start, the album does eventually get going with two strong tracks: “Elvi$,” despite its horrible title, is a dizzyingly engaging piece of loopy funk that will surely get anybody’s party started, and “Do We Move Your World” is a better Fischerspooner track than any off that band’s last album. Ultimately, He Was King is electro-pop on autopilot. C’mon Felix, we need you back in your throne! (www.nettwerk.com)
