The Incredible Cuteness of Being
Top Shelf
Keith Knight
Oct 29, 2013 Issue #47 - September/October 2013 - MGMT
This compendium of Keith Knight’s one-page strip The K Chronicles largely concerns cartoons involving his son, and to a lesser extent the election of the United States’ first black president, Barack Obama. But never does it get lost, overblown, or overly sentimental; Knight’s cartooning and wit stay on point and keep the reader’s interest despite the slightly dated political references and the potential saccharine pitfalls that baby-/child-centric topics might engender. Just as he’s always examined race issues without being preachy or off-putting even as he makes his opinions clear, Knight’s observations, jokes, and occasional touching tributes make this a very well-rounded and enjoyable collection.
